The Cornwall Chamber of Commerce holds elections for the Board of Directors during its Annual General Meeting, held in March of each year. All members in good standing are advised, and are encouraged to seek office or, to nominate a worthy individual. Directors normally sit for a two- year term before seeking re-election or, stepping down from the Board.
The President and Executive Committee are elected by the incoming Board of Directors during its first official meeting, immediately following the election. Executive positions are filled by nominations from the Board during that meeting and are carried out by secret ballot.
Elections for 2019/2020 Board of Directors
The names of potential Directors are selected by the nomination committee and circulated to our members. Self -nominations are accepted up to 4:30 pm Tuesday, March 12, 2019.
The official ballot, with the candidates’ names in alphabetical order, indicating each candidate’s business association and a brief ‘bio’ will be emailed on Wednesday, March 13, 2019. The new Board of Directors will be elected and announced Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at the Annual General Meeting.
According to the Constitution and By Laws of the Cornwall & Area Chamber of Commerce, the
Nominating Committee shall select a slate of candidates to fill all vacancies on the Board of Directors.
The Cornwall Chamber AGM will be held on
March 23, 2019 – 4:00 p.m.

Additional nominations to the Official Nomination List may be made by any Cornwall Chamber of Commerce Designated Member, in good standing, using the form on the reverse of this sheet. Nominations must be endorsed with the signature of three (3) members of the Chamber in good standing. Nominations must be received on or before 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2019.

Cornwall Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors
Milena Cardinal is a lawyer with the Law Society of Upper Canada. She holds a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from Queen’s University as well as a Civil Law Degree (LL.L.) from the University of Sherbrooke. Ms. Cardinal is passionate about the law in all respects, from its study to its practice. Perfectly bilingual, talented writer, very well organized and recognized for her efficiency, she is particularly good at explaining difficult concepts to make them understood. She is known for the care she provides to her clients and her constant preoccupation with surpassing their expectations.
Shannon Donkers is a General Manager who leads a senior team of hospitality professionals at the Ramada by Wyndham, Cornwall. Born and raised in Williamstown, her love of hospitality started young. One of her first jobs included helping run a bed and breakfast throughout high school. Shannon graduated at the top of her class at Algonquin College in the Hotel & Restaurant Management program.
Exploring her love of travel, Shannon left the small-town lifestyle behind and moved out west to learn the finer details of extraordinary guest services working at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise.
Bringing her experiences back to Ontario she has spent the last 10 years working in the nation’s capital at the Lord Elgin Hotel. When Shannon is not busy being an industry leader and sharing her knowledge, she enjoys spending time at home with her fiancé and their dog on her farm.
Todd comes from a small business background, as first his grandfather, and then father operated Cornwall Window and Floor Cleaning/Rainstream Eavestroughing for more than 60 years. Lihou’s father retired a few short years ago, bringing an end to the business. Lihou spent nearly 20 years as a journalist in Cornwall, covering an entire gamut of issues in this city, from politics to education and business.
He brings a plethora of contacts through his time as a journalist and enjoys a breadth of respect in and around Cornwall. Today he is the Centretown Coordinator, a position that places him at the nexus of small business networking in Cornwall. He reports to both Cornwall BIAs and the Heart of the City and maintains strong links to City Hall and its administrative arm. He looks forward to the opportunity to sit on the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce Board.
Bill Kingston – Cornwall Newswatch
Bill Kingston is a seasoned journalist with over 20 years in the news business. He is currently an entrepreneur and owner-editor of Cornwall Newswatch and Brockville Newswatch as part of the Eastern Ontario Newswatch Group. He is also a past Director on the Chamber Board.
Bill is a Broadcast Journalism graduate of Loyalist College in Belleville and has worked in newsrooms in Belleville, Cobourg and North Bay and managed radio newsrooms in Kirkland Lake, Parry Sound and Cornwall.
He is committed to upholding the highest standards of journalism and is a long time member of the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA).
In his spare time, Bill is a competitive duathlete, runner, cyclist and member of the Cornwall Multisport Club and the Cornwall Cycling Club.
I have had a career in the tourism/hospitality industry that has expanded over three decades in leadership roles that allowed me to identify, leverage and develop talent. Today, I am the Director, Sales & Marketing at the NAV CENTRE. Prior to joining NAV CANADA almost six years ago, I was with Sodexo for over 20 years where I held leadership roles in operations, marketing and sales and was very much involved in various working groups and committees from coaching, diversity & inclusion to division and corporate strategy planning.
I have also worked with a couple of hotel properties in Montreal in both Food & Beverage and Sales. My background includes being a Mentor in the Sodexo NORAM Mentorship program, former board member of the Stop Hunger foundation, currently on the Tourism committee with RTO district 9 and Canadian Ambassador for IACC.
My name is Andrew Seguin, the owner of Seguin Financial, a bookkeeping and tax firm in Cornwall. After graduating from the St. Lawrence College 3-year accounting program, I worked in the non-profit sector where I gained valuable experience in finance, HR, IT and more. With the help of my colleagues, I decided to take the plunge as an entrepreneur and opened my own business in January 2018.
We’re not your typical bookkeeping and tax firm. We use the latest in business and accounting software to provide faster, better and more reliable services at a fixed fee. Helping business owners is something I am very passionate about and I am very excited to be a potential member of the Cornwall & Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
Kelsey White- BMO Bank of Montreal
Kelsey White, a graduate of the University of Ottawa, has been a proud member of the BMO Bank of Montreal family for 4 years. Her strength is working with clients to understand their specific financial needs and to offer innovative solutions that will assist them in achieving their goals. Kelsey recognizes the complexity of business owners’ financial lives and brings a personal touch to everything that she does. Her goal, as a business banker, is to proactively guide, anticipate her clients’ needs and offer simple, personalized solutions aligned with their business.
Additional nominations may be submitted by any member in good standing provided such nomination is endorsed by three members and the nominee has consented in writing to stand for election. Deadline for additional nominations is Tuesday, March 12 at 4:30 pm.
